In 1990, Tinker Hatfield designed what was launched as the Air Max III, the third sneaker in the Air Max series. He drew inspiration from the 1987 Air Max 1 and the 1989 Air Max Light, combining mesh and synthetic leather, variable-width eyelets in the forefoot, and a nylon tongue to create a faster silhouette with a more aggressive look. Reissued in 2020, the Ultramarine brings back an intense blue that was already part of the Air Max family’s color identity.
