Adidas SL 72 RS Magic Beige Cloud White Blue Bird — Super Light since 1972

The SL 72 was launched in 1972 as a lightweight alternative to the rest of adidas running shoes: the initials SL stand for “Super Light,” and 72 is the year it was released, during the Summer Olympics. It was the brand’s first model to feature the Trefoil logo. Its appearance on television during the competition, at the height of the jogging craze, turned it into a huge success in the early seventies.

The SL 72 RS — the same upper, redesigned sole

The upper is the classic design: lightweight nylon with suede reinforcements on the toe, heel, and eyelets, plus a rubber toe cap to prevent abrasions. The RS variant — short for reshaped — keeps that design intact and adds a slightly more substantial sole underneath, providing comfort without betraying the original profile. This combination features a Magic Beige body, Cloud White panels, and Blue Bird Three Stripes.
