The SL 72 was created for the 1972 Munich Olympic Games as an extremely lightweight running shoe: “SL” stands for Super Light and “72” is the year. It was the first adidas model to feature the trefoil logo and eventually became the shoe many athletes wore to step onto the podium instead of their racing shoes. The RS version —short for “reshaped”— retains that upper with a slightly more robust sole, and here it is made with Cordura fabric.

The silhouette retains the original’s low, sharp profile, with suede reinforcements on the toe, heel, and eyelet area, plus a lugged rubber sole. Cordura fabric, known for its abrasion resistance, replaces part of the classic nylon. In Black/Charcoal, black covers the base while charcoal gray appears on the overlays and details, creating a contrast of tones that can be appreciated through texture.
