Adidas Samba XLG Brown Alumina Aurora Coffee — The 1949 classic, with added height

The Samba was born in 1949, created by Adi Dassler so footballers could train on frozen pitches: hence its gum rubber outsole with a suction pattern. It made its world debut at the 1950 World Cup in Brazil — from which it took its name — and in the seventies it evolved into the indoor football shoe we all know. The XLG is its contemporary version: the same iconic upper, with an exaggerated platform. In brown with Aurora Coffee, it is the warmest take on the family.

The Samba XLG — XLG tooling and pronounced sidewall

What sets the XLG apart from the Samba OG is underneath: a much thicker full-length EVA midsole and a sidewall with its own pattern that gives it height and attitude. Up top, everything recognizable remains: the T-toe, the three stripes, and the padded tongue. The brown base contrasts with the Alumina warm gray of the stripes and the Aurora Coffee tone of the heel.
