The history of the Samba begins in 1949, when Adi Dassler designed a boot so footballers could train on frozen pitches: kangaroo leather, a mid-cut design, and a gum rubber sole for grip where nothing else could. It made its debut before the world at the 1950 World Cup in Brazil. In 1972, the cut was lowered, heel padding was added, and a zoned sole was introduced, turning it into the benchmark for indoor football—and from there it moved to the streets, never to leave.
