Adidas Samba OG Black Denim Gum — The 1949 classic in denim

Adi Dassler designed the Samba in 1949 for training on frozen fields: kangaroo leather, a mid-cut design, and a gum rubber sole capable of gripping where nothing else could. It was introduced to the world at the 1950 World Cup in Brazil. In 1972, the cut was lowered, the heel gained padding, and a zoned sole was introduced, turning it into the indoor football standard. From there, it moved onto the streets and stayed.

The Samba OG — the T-toe intact, the material different

The upper has barely changed over the decades: the Three Stripes retain their size and position, and the T-toe reinforcement over the toe box remains original. What changes here is the fabric: instead of the usual leather, black denim adds a matte, slightly rough texture, with the reinforcements and stripes in the same tone, all set on the traditional gum sole that breaks up the dark block.
