A Bathing Ape was founded in 1993 in Ura-Harajuku, when Nigo opened the NOWHERE store with Jun Takahashi of Undercover. The name plays on a Japanese saying about becoming too comfortable, and the strategy has always been the same: limited production, unmistakable graphics, and word of mouth. The Sakura series brings back the cherry blossom motif, a quintessential Japanese symbol, and in this SS23 version incorporates it into a photographic Ape Head.
