The Gazelle entered the market in 1966 as Adidas’s first track model to replace leather with suede, reducing weight without sacrificing structure. It was launched in two versions, red for indoor court use and blue for training, and in 1971 it incorporated the hexagonal sole that became its signature. This edition comes from the collaboration with Grace Wales Bonner, the British-Jamaican designer who won the LVMH Prize in 2016, whose partnership with Adidas Originals began in 2020.
The Gazelle Indoor retains the low profile, padded tongue, and three side stripes of the original design. In this version, Wales Bonner replaces the usual suede with a pony hair upper in the Aurora Coffee palette, combined with Wonder White and Core Black, adding a tactile texture and an almost artisanal finish.
