In 1984, Peter Moore sat down with a Michael Jordan who had just arrived in the NBA to design his first sneaker. Jordan asked for two things: that it be different and that it sit closer to the ground. Moore started with the concept of the Nike Dunk and added the Wings logo to the ankle, a symbol never before seen on a Nike model. The Air Jordan 1 arrived in April 1985, and the Low cut is the most direct version of that request.
The panel structure is the same as it was four decades ago: perforated toe box, wide lateral Swoosh, and distinct heel panel.
