Keith Haring was born on May 4, 1958, in Reading, Pennsylvania, and grew up in Kutztown, the same town where Saucony has its roots since 1898. In 1978, he moved to New York, where he turned the subway into his canvas with his iconic chalk drawings before exhibiting in museums around the world. Diagnosed with HIV in 1988, he founded the Keith Haring Foundation in 1989 to fund HIV/AIDS-related causes and children’s programs, and passed away on February 16, 1990, at the age of 31. This “Love” edition, launched on May 28, 2025, as part of the Saucony Originals Pride collection, pays tribute to his artistic and activist legacy.
The Shadow 6000 was introduced in 1991 as an evolution of the Shadow 5000, incorporating the VIP (Vertical Ionic Pillars) system to improve heel stability and forefoot cushioning. Its layered suede and mesh construction eventually made it one of Saucony’s favorite canvases for collaborations. The Keith Haring Love edition features a light-colored base highlighted by the artist’s signature love-themed strokes and symbols, distributed across the sneaker’s paneling.
