The Dunk launched in 1985 as part of the “Be True to Your School” program, through which Nike outfitted American college basketball teams in their school colors. That is where its color-block construction comes from, making it decades later one of streetwear’s most versatile canvases. This Crocodile version completely breaks the mold: instead of two solid colors, it wraps the entire sneaker in synthetic leather embossed with a crocodile texture.
The upper is covered in dark green embossed leather, and the contrast comes through in texture rather than color: the side Swoosh and heel tab appear in smooth suede, breaking up the scale pattern. Gold details—the tongue label and heel embroidery—complete the look, while the midsole and outsole are also green to preserve the uninterrupted color block.
