Nike Cortez Textile Hydrogen Blue Hot Curry — The classic, in a lightweight version
The Cortez was Nike’s first running shoe, launched in 1972 and designed by co-founder Bill Bowerman for distance training and pavement running. It was also the first model to feature the Swoosh and the first to combine a full-length midsole with a layer of spongy rubber beneath the upper, giving it more cushioning than was customary at the time. It was released during the 1972 Olympic Games.
The Cortez Textile — Hydrogen Blue with Hot Curry
The Textile version replaces leather with fabric, making the shoe lighter and softening its lines. The profile remains intact: low, elongated, a Swoosh running along the side, and a contrasting heel reinforcement. This colorway pairs Hydrogen Blue, a very light, cool blue, with Hot Curry, a warm golden yellow: a contrast in temperature, not just color.
Materials and technology
