The model launched in 2010 as the Nike Zoom Vomero+ 5, a premium running shoe from the Vomero range focused on cushioning and durability for distance runners, and designed to work with the Nike+iPod technology of the time. Years later, it stopped being a training shoe and became something else: Nike reintroduced it in 2018 and, after disappearing for a while, it resurfaced in late 2022 and went on to become one of the pillars of its lifestyle business.
What makes it unmistakable is the visual complexity of the upper: textiles, leather, suede and a plastic cage that provides support, with mesh reinforced with TecTuff for breathability without sacrificing durability. Underneath, Zoom Air cushioning provides the responsiveness.
