The Air Max Sunder debuted in 1999, during the height of Nike's formal experimentation, and disappeared from the catalog for a quarter of a century. Nike brought it back from the archives on July 11, 2024, in its original Canyon Gold colorway to celebrate its 25th anniversary, and has kept it in constant rotation ever since. Its most recognizable feature remains the same: a zippered shroud that completely conceals the laces. This Safety Orange Black is the boldest version of the silhouette.
Opening the shroud reveals the number «6453» printed on the inside: the last four digits of the phone number for Nike's offices, a detail only visible when you take the shoe off. Underfoot, a full-length visible Air unit runs across the entire midsole. In this colorway, safety orange dominates the upper, while black covers the shroud, midsole, and reinforcements—a high-visibility contrast that stays true to the functional spirit of the late nineties.
