In 1990, Tinker Hatfield created what was then called the Air Max III: he took elements from the Air Max 1 and the 1989 Air Max Light, enlarged the visible Air unit, and sharpened the profile with inspiration from Italian sports cars. The name changed to Air Max 90 in 2000, when the silhouette was reissued using the year of its launch. The Light Pumice colorway brings that aggressive design to a stone-gray palette, much quieter than the original Infrared.
The silhouette is instantly recognizable: layered suede and mesh panels, wide eyelets, a rubber mudguard at the toe, and the Air window in the heel. In Light Pumice, warm gray dominates the upper, while the overlays play with slightly darker tones, allowing the Air unit and the mudguard stitching to set the visual rhythm without shouting.
