In 1990, Tinker Hatfield designed the shoe that was officially called Air Max III at launch, the third silhouette in the Air Max family, taking the combination of mesh and synthetic leather, the variable-width eyelets on the forefoot, and the nylon tongue from the Air Max 1 (1987) and the Air Max Light (1989). In the European market, that original name, "Air Max III," has remained as the silhouette's nickname, and this Spruce colorway brings back precisely that historic nomenclature to present one of the freshest shades in the Air Max 90 family.
The features that made it iconic remain: the wedge-shaped upper, the large visible Air unit in the heel with its ribbed elements, and the "heart" on the heel with the raised Nike logo. In the Spruce colorway, a breathable white mesh base is combined with a spruce green mudguard, while the translucent Swooshes and the "Nike Air" heel branding are tinted in a striking hot lime, along with the signature tongue and an insole that reproduces the vintage "Nike International" map.
