The New Balance 860 was originally designed as a stability running shoe for runners with overpronation, and over time it earned a reputation as a "dad shoe" thanks to its bulky, functional silhouette; this v2 rerelease dates back to 2012. Aimé Leon Dore, the New York label founded by Teddy Santis and a streetwear reference known for its retro-preppy aesthetic, adopted the 860v2 as one of its signature silhouettes in its collaboration with New Balance, reinterpreting it with premium materials and a vintage color palette. This "Green" colorway is part of that line of collaborations launched in 2023.
The silhouette retains the robust profile and wide sole characteristic of the original 860, with synthetic overlays and the classic "N" on the sides. In this colorway, cream-colored mesh forms the base, combined with silver and green overlays, gold accents, and a tan leather reinforcement on the toe box. The lateral "N" appears in green, adding a highly distinctive retro contrast characteristic of ALD collaborations.
