JJJJound is the studio founded by Canadian Justin Saunders, and its way of working is recognizable from a distance precisely because it doesn’t shout: monochrome palettes, understated materials, and the removal of everything superfluous. That approach fits naturally with New Balance, and this 740N is the result of that partnership. It launched on July 30, 2026, through JJJJound ahead of a wider release at select retailers.
The main intervention is on the upper: JJJJound rebuilt it with a seamless construction, removing the stitched panels that fragmented the original silhouette and leaving a much cleaner, more continuous surface. The Mushroom shade —a muted grayish beige— covers almost the entire shoe, with the lateral “N” integrated into the same color family rather than standing out in contrast.
