The original 2002 was launched in 2010 as a high-end running shoe, featuring all the technology New Balance had at the time, built onto an upper made from premium materials. Ten years later, the brand brought back that exact last under the name 2002R, and what had been a performance shoe became one of the most sought-after silhouettes in contemporary lifestyle footwear. This colorway comes in Woodland and Stoneware tones, with the entire palette kept muted.
The 2002R combines two textures that theoretically should not work together: fine technical mesh and soft suede, layered to wrap the foot and create that distinctive elongated profile. Beneath it, the midsole reveals its entire cushioning system. In this version, muted greens and grays replace the model's usual metallic grays, resulting in a warmer, less technical look.
