The New Balance 1000 first appeared in 1999 as a premium lifestyle sneaker that embodied the futuristic, bold design of the era. After being discontinued for years, the model was revived from 2024 onwards thanks to Joe Freshgoods, followed shortly afterwards by Teddy Santis’s collection for Aime Leon Dore and, months later, by KITH, cementing its comeback as one of the most sought-after Y2K silhouettes of the moment. This Light Blue Black colorway joins that second life with a palette combining light blue with a black base.
What sets the 1000 apart is its inverted construction: instead of the classic mesh-and-suede-overlay layout, the mesh peeks through between more prominent overlay panels, creating a technical look that is highly characteristic of late-1990s design. The segmented sole incorporates ABZORB cushioning in the heel and forefoot, together with a Stability Web shank in the midfoot. In this colorway, the black base is brightened by light blue details across the upper and sole.
