The GT-2160 launched in spring 2011, replacing the GT-2150 within the GT-2000 line, the stability range positioned just below the Gel-Kayano. It remained in the catalogue for only a few months before the GT-2170 replaced it in January 2012. The craze for 2000s running shoes brought it back: ASICS reissued it in July 2023, first with the Montreal-based brand Dime and later in a general release.
The silhouette follows the language of early-2010s running: technical mesh beneath layers of synthetic overlays, midfoot reinforcement and a tall, segmented midsole. The White Morpho starts with a white base and reserves Morpho blue — inspired by the intense blue of the Morpho butterfly — for the side stripes and accents, creating a vivid contrast against the clean background.
