The Spiz’ike arrived in October 2006 as a tribute to Spike Lee and his character Mars Blackmon, who starred alongside Michael Jordan in the advertising campaign that launched the Air Jordan line in the late eighties. The name combines Spike and Mike. Its initial release was limited to 4,032 pairs, each individually numbered on the label.
The model’s appeal lies in its Frankenstein construction, which rearranges pieces from five different Air Jordans: the midsole and outsole of the III, along with its elephant print; the wing strap from the IV; the upper and lace locks from the V; the tongue from the VI; and the XX’s laser print on the insole. This Low version lowers the cut and dresses the whole design in Pearl Pink over white, offering a soft, pearlescent take on a historically detail-heavy silhouette.
