The Air Jordan Spizike debuted in 2006, designed by Tinker Hatfield and Mark Smith alongside Spike Lee and Michael Jordan, with an unusual idea: building a new model using pieces from several Air Jordan models at once. The result included the elephant print, midsole, and outsole from the AJ3; the wings and side mesh from the AJ4; the mesh panels and profile from the AJ5; the tongue and heel tab from the AJ6; the heel from the AJ9; and the engraved graphics from the AJ20. The Low version arrived much later, in late 2023.
Despite the mix of references, the profile feels cohesive: mesh panels, side wings, a toe reinforcement, and elephant print distributed across the contrasting details. This colorway is entirely dark, with black as the base and Anthracite gray adding nuance to the panels and reinforcements, so the richness of the textures is defined more by relief than by color.
