The Son of Mars pays tribute to Mars Blackmon, the character Spike Lee played in Nike and Air Jordan advertisements in the late eighties and early nineties—the same character who popularized “It’s gotta be da shoes.” In 2012, Jordan Brand teamed up with Lee again and fused the models that had inspired the Spiz’ike, creating this hybrid silhouette that combines the Air Jordan 3, 4, 5, and 6. The Low version debuted in 2015. The White Cement brings back the most recognizable color palette in the Jordan catalog.
Each part of the shoe references a different model: the toe box and panels recall the III, the side profile the IV, the collar details the V, and the lower line the VI. Cement grey appears over the white base on the panels and midsole, with black and red accents. The side strap, a signature Son of Mars feature, completes the construction.
