The Air Jordan 4 arrived in 1989, designed by Tinker Hatfield, and introduced two ideas that made it instantly recognizable: mesh side panels, designed to make a basketball shoe lighter and more breathable, and support wings with eyelets that allowed the lacing fit to be customized. It was also the first Air Jordan with truly global distribution, and it has been re-released ever since.
The defining features remain intact in this reissue: mesh side panels, wings with eyelets on both sides of the lacing, a heel tab, and a sculpted midsole with a pronounced profile. In this colorway, black covers the upper, Infrared red serves as an accent on the details and midsole, and Barely Volt introduces a softer third color point.
