The Air Jordan 1 went on sale in April 1985, designed by Peter Moore for a Michael Jordan who had just joined the NBA. The league banned it in October because its regulations required white or black footwear; Jordan wore it anyway, receiving a $5,000 fine per game, and Nike turned the ban into a historic advertisement. This colorway takes the AJ1 in the opposite direction from minimalism: white, black, volt, and University Gold arranged in color blocks.
