The Superstar arrived in 1969 as the first low-top basketball sneaker made entirely from leather, and its major innovation was the shell-shaped rubber toe designed to protect the foot on the court. A decade and a half later, Run-DMC took it off the courts and turned it into a symbol of New York hip hop: their dedication to My Adidas in 1986 ultimately sealed the first major deal between a sportswear brand and a music group. The ST is the contemporary interpretation of that silhouette.
The ST retains everything that makes a Superstar recognizable —the molded shell toe, the three perforated stripes, the heel with the trefoil— but refines the profile and reduces the volume of the original, which was born as a basketball sneaker and looked the part. In this colorway, the Off White upper contrasts with the three stripes and heel reinforcement in Shadow Navy, a muted navy blue that is much softer than the usual black.
