The Superstar came onto the market in 1970 — there is a 1969 prototype in the adidas archive — as the first low-top basketball shoe made from full-grain leather, with a ribbed rubber toe cap designed to protect the foot. That shell toe became the brand’s symbol on and off the court. The Superstar II keeps that geometry intact and, in this Comfort Closure version, replaces the laces with hook-and-loop fasteners so children can put them on and take them off by themselves.
The ribbed rubber toe cap, serrated 3-Stripes, and rubber herringbone cupsole are still there; what has been added is extra cushioning for growing feet that are on the move all day. This colorway reverses the classic: a Core Black base with Cloud White 3-Stripes and toe cap, a crisp contrast that gets dirty less easily than an all-white version.
