The Samba was born in 1949, designed by Adi Dassler for footballers to train with traction on icy surfaces; its rubber sole with suction cups and kangaroo leather upper made it a staple of European football before it took to the streets in the '70s as one of the most influential silhouettes from adidas Originals. Edison Chen and his brand CLOT now reinterpret that football legacy within the World Cup collection, a capsule celebrating the build-up to the World Cup by fusing the Samba DNA with traditional espadrille craftsmanship.
The silhouette retains the Samba's low profile and iconic toe cap, but replaces the traditional rubber sole with a handwoven esparto platform inspired by the Mediterranean espadrille. In this White Black colorway, the white Samba Millenium leather upper is paired with black leather 3 Stripes and a grey suede toe cap and heel, while a gold foil CLOT logo and a co-branded insole complete the collaboration.
