The Predator Absolute was the soccer cleat worn by some of the world’s best players at the 2006 World Cup, including David Beckham. Almost twenty years later, adidas did something unexpected with that icon: combined it with the silhouette of the Megaride running shoe to create a street sneaker. The result, released on April 7, 2025, is a hybrid of soccer DNA and chunky 2000s aesthetics. Metallic Blue is the colorway that directly pays tribute to Beckham’s cleat.
The detail that gives it all away is the fold-over tongue across the instep, taken directly from the Predator Absolute. Over it, an intense metallic blue combined with silver recreates the finish of that 2006 cleat, while the wide base and bulky midsole belong to the language of running shoes from that era.
