French designer Jacques Chassaing began working on the Forum in 1983 by asking professional players directly what they wanted from a basketball shoe. Those conversations led to the criss-cross Velcro strap system for ankle stability, and ultimately to the shoe adidas launched in 1984 with the Los Angeles Olympic tournament in mind. The name comes from the venue where those games were played. It was also one of the first models available in high-, mid- and low-top versions.
The mid-cut is the family’s balance: it retains some of the ankle support of the high-top model while removing the bulk, making it much easier to wear every day. In this version, white covers absolutely everything, from the Cloud White leather to the Crystal White three stripes and strap, in a tonal look that lets the silhouette speak for itself.
