In 2008, the Adistar Control 5 was a motion-control running shoe: highly structured, packed with technology, and with no aesthetic intention whatsoever. Adidas brought it back in 2025, but no longer as a training shoe—instead, it became a lifestyle piece, taking advantage of the fact that today’s tastes value exactly what was once functional: layered panels, visible reinforcements, and a robust midsole. It is one of those cases where the archive needed no modifications.
Everything you see has a functional origin: the lateral reinforcements that hold the midfoot, the ventilated mesh on the upper, the rigid heel counter, and a wide midsole designed to stabilize the stride. This colorway uses a grey base with purple details and metallic finishes, a combination strongly associated with the technical sneakers of that decade.
