The Samba dates back to 1949 and was designed by Adi Dassler himself to solve a very specific problem: in winter, the ground froze, studded boots could not grip, and matches became dangerous. Dassler turned to gum rubber and designed a three-section sole covered with small suction cups. The model was unveiled at the 1950 World Cup in Brazil and took its name from the Brazilian dance. The Core Black Cloud White Gum is its textbook version.
Low, narrow silhouette, reinforced suede T-toe, three stitched stripes on the side, and a tongue with a gold logo. Underfoot is the gum rubber sole that gave it purpose in 1949 and is now half of its visual appeal.
