The Campus launched in 1970 as a basketball shoe under the name Tournament, and it was not renamed Campus until the 1980s. Its real breakthrough came off the court: simple, indestructible, and free of parts that got in the way of tricks, it became the choice of 2000s skaters, who wore it down to the bone. In 2022, adidas launched the Campus 00s, drawing specifically on that decade, with more generous proportions than the original.
Compared with the classic Campus, the 00s widens the midfoot and exaggerates the tongue, that thick, padded piece that reveals its skate origins. Suede covers the entire upper, including the tongue, while the Three Stripes and heel are made of white leather. On this pair, the Wonder Quartz base — a soft, muted shade — provides the backdrop for Victory Red, which appears on the stripes and provides all the contrast.
